One Home One Garden Campaign continues
7 October 2020Maphumulo Local Municipality raps up the 4-day One Home One Garden Campaign to put a squeeze to poverty.
This initiative taken by the Gender and Vulnerable Group portfolio committee led by Portfolio Chairperson Cllr Betty Luthuli was aimed to uplift and empower those women who are working as groups doing community gardens with planting equipment that will be useful to them to carry on with their gardens. These women led organizations were supported with;
- Wheel barrows
- Hand Hoe handle and hand hoes
- Watering cans
- Steel rakes
- Sow and boar feed for pigs
- Sweet Feeds for pigs
- Garden steel rakes
- Carrot seeds
- Spinach seeds
- Cabbage seeds
This was a delayed program of action for woman’s month, however as the country faces the covid-19 pandemic, the Covid19 regulations gave a pause to the program.
This program is held by Maphumulo Local Municipality in partnership with the Department of Agriculture. The program will visit all Wards around Maphumulo.
