Maphumulo Local Municipality recently held an Informal Traders Capacitation Workshop in partnership with Enterprise iLembe, Department of Economic Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs (EDTEA), Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) & Department of Small Business Development (DSBD).
This workshop was aimed at capacitating Informal traders / SMMEs that owns Spaza shops, Shisanyama, Salons, Dressmakers, Bakeries and Car Repairers. Maphumulo Local Municipality Speaker, Cllr Simphiwe Shange had officially opened the workshop and had encouraged the SMMEs to stop selling illegal goods in town and contribute positively in town development. He further motivated the SMMEs to work towards eradicating poverty and creating jobs for the local people. Formal presentations were done by the EDTEA and SEDA focusing on the importance of compliance and correct completion of the funding application forms by the SMMEs. The Maphumulo Municipality and Enterprise iLembe Officials had assisted the 115 SMMEs attending the workshop with the completion of the SEFA funding applications.
The Manager for Local Economic Development Mr S. Shangase gave words of motivation to the SMMEs and acknowledged all SMMEs who attended this workshop.
Municipality Local Municipality is committed to assist our local SMMEs with issuing of informal trading permits.
